A Little Hogwarts: Harry Potter-Inspired Halloween Tarot at College of San Mateo
Updated: Sep 28
One of my favorite Halloween events was at the College of San Mateo. The theme was Harry Potter, so I wanted my Tarot table to feel like a small corner of the wizarding world.

I dressed for it too, with a green velvet robe-style jacket and a Hogwarts-inspired brooch.
Since I'm a huge Harry Potter fan myself, I have a lot of HP stuff. brought Hedwig, Harry, Ron and Hermione, a Sorting Hat, little glowing potion bottles, pumpkins, greenery, and a dark tablecloth with a magical forest feel. I also used a Harry Potter Tarot deck, because once you commit to a theme, you may as well commit properly.

People started noticing the details before they even came over for a reading. Someone would point at Hedwig, someone else would recognize the characters or the deck, and people would stop to take photos.
The readings fit the theme really naturally. Guests would sit down surrounded by all these familiar magical details, choose their cards, and get a short reading. It felt less like a separate activity and more like part of the whole Halloween experience.
What I remember most is how easily people joined in. They smiled, joked, looked at all the little details, and then sat down to see what the cards had to say.
For a few hours, my table at the College of San Mateo felt a little less like part of a campus event and a little more like a place where an owl might show up with your mail.
What the organizer said:

Planning a Halloween event of your own?
Whether it’s a corporate celebration, private party, or a fully themed event, tarot can become part of the atmosphere rather than just another activity on the schedule. I can tailor the setup, deck, and reading style to fit your theme and create an experience guests will actually want to stop for.
